In France, there are still places where furniture is made the old-fashioned way—not on an assembly line, not on the other side of the world, but in a rural workshop, surrounded by forests, in tune with the rhythm of the wood.
This workshop is Lignartis, nestled in the Mayenne region, where oak and beech have been crafted for five generations. Today, they need our help.
Expertise that nothing can replace
For more than thirty years, some thirty carpenters, sawyers, and assemblers have been crafting beds, tables, and furniture that appear simple… yet are crafted to the highest standards. Each piece is made to order. Every cut is hand-finished. All the wood is locally sourced, solid, and untreated.
This isn’t just a facade of craftsmanship. It’s a profession. A human chain. And a shared commitment: to produce differently, sustainably, and without excess.
But today, the business model of such a workshop is faltering. Economic conditions, pressure from low-cost imports, and the postponement of numerous development projects have put the workshop in a difficult position. When orders slow down, it’s not inventory that piles up. It’s machines that come to a standstill, skills that are no longer passed down, and careers that are put on hold.
Behind every piece of furniture, a hand. A face.
What makes Lignartis unique isn’t just the quality of the wood or the strength of its joints. It’s the women and men who work there. Some have been there for over 20 years. Others are the children of former workshop employees. All of them have chosen to stay, to reject the conveniences of mass production, and to believe that a different model is still possible.
Every piece of furniture that comes out of the workshop embodies this commitment: work done well, high-quality materials, and a thriving local economy.
A campaign to ensure we don't just stand by and watch
At Kipli, we’ve decided not to wait. Because Lignartis isn’t just a supplier. It’s a partner, an ally in our vision of a more sustainable, more humane, and more responsible world—and, since last year, a part of our story as we take more concrete steps to make a difference in France.
To provide concrete support for the workshop, we’re launching a special campaign: 10% off all products in the Lignartis line.
It’s a direct way to make a difference. Every order helps get a production line up and running again. Every bed purchased means several hours of guaranteed work, a craftsman who keeps his job, and a workshop that stays in business.
This isn't a promotion. It's a way to support a meaningful project.
What if we saved more than just one workshop?
In a world where there is a lot of talk about reshoring, Lignartis shows that it is possible. As long as we help them hold on. To get through this.
So if you’ve been thinking about a bedroom, living room, or furnishing project… now might be the right time to bring it to life. And, in your own small way, help champion a way of doing things. A way of being.
