Kipli: fair prices all year round

We are often asked why we don't participate in sales or Black Friday. Our answer: because attractive discounts encourage overconsumption, which has disastrous consequences for the environment. But also because our prices are fair all year round, and when a company already offers its suppliers and all employees a fair wage, a reduced margin, its selling price is adjusted and therefore cannot offer discounts. In this article, we will explain all this to you.

What is a fair price?

A price is truly fair when the consumer pays a reasonable price for the quality of the product. On the other hand, it is fair when all the actors involved in its creation are duly remunerated (suppliers of the raw materials used in the production process, production units, etc.).

At Kipli, every effort is made to offer the customer the best value for money. The natural latex mattress is about half cheaper than a mattress of the same quality sold in a store. And 30% cheaper than the average of its online competitors. It is therefore positioned as close as possible to the purchasing power of the customer.

So a fair price is a question of values. A fair price is also a price that is close to the cost of the product.

It provides a limited margin for the distributor. The cost price includes the cost of raw materials, their processing. As well as the fair remuneration of all the people involved in the production chain. To obtain the selling price, we add to this production cost the gross margin, which includes fixed costs (remuneration of the e-commerce team, office rent, customer service, etc.), all taxes (which we pay 100% in France) and the profit made on sales, also called the net margin. At Kipli, the net margin on the sale of a mattress is 7%.

Why are fair prices a given for us?

In the face of the new development challenges, we consider it essential to be responsible and committed to better trade. As you know, in world trade there are still practices whose ethics are widely questioned. For example, the call for profit leads many companies to ignore working conditions. Also the sometimes indecent level of remuneration of the people involved in the production process and/or transportation of their products.

Kipli is among those who believe that companies, regardless of their size and activity, have a social and environmental responsibility. By guaranteeing fair prices, Kipli assumes its responsibility and gives as many people as possible access to sustainable and ecological quality products. Kipli takes the opposite view of the ""race to the bottom"". Companies are constantly lowering their prices through promotions to attract consumers. The result is a jumble of crossed-out prices, unreadable rates and unlikely discounts that make it difficult for the customer to compare offers.

What does a price really mean? How do brands manage to sell their products at a crushing price during the sale period?

Kipli tries to give a hint of an operation that often leads companies to lower the quality of their products to maintain their margins.
