How Do You Wash a Pillowcase? - Kipli

How do you wash a pillowcase?

A clean pillowcase means instant comfort and healthier skin. The good news: simple, regular care is all it takes—as long as you adjust your cleaning routine to the fabric. Here’s our straightforward method—free of harsh chemicals—to keep your Kipli pillowcases soft and in great shape.

The right pace, the right method

Change your pillowcases every week. In the summer, if you sweat more, change them twice a week. Before washing, air them out for a few minutes, shake them gently to remove dust, then close the “bottle” if there is one—this helps maintain its shape. For a fresh stain, dab (never rub) with a clean cloth and a little Marseille soap. Rinse by dabbing with clean water and let air dry. Avoid strong stain removers.

Cotton percale

Organic cotton does best in lukewarm water: wash at 40 °C. The fabric becomes softer with each wash. Air-dry or tumble dry on a low setting (60 °C max). Iron on a high setting (up to 150 °C). Avoid bleach and dry cleaning.

Pre-washed cotton

Do you like the naturally wrinkled look? Wash at 60 °C; air-dry or use a gentle cycle (60 °C max). Ironing is not necessary; if you do iron, keep the temperature below 150 °C.

Wash-finished linen

Linen prefers gentle care. 40 °C is sufficient. Air drying is recommended; avoid the dryer to preserve the fabric's texture. Iron at a maximum of 150 °C if you wish to reduce the natural wrinkles. Do not use chlorine bleach or dry clean.

Hemp

Same as linen: 40 °C, air dry. Hemp naturally regulates temperature; there’s no need for long wash cycles. Iron on a moderate setting (≤ 150 °C). Avoid solvents and bleach.

Satin

Satin should be treated gently: wash at 40 °C, air-dry or tumble dry on a very gentle cycle (40 °C max). Ironing on the reverse side at a temperature below 150 °C will restore its luster if necessary.

Prestige Cotton

Follow the same care instructions as for percale, washing at 40 °C to preserve the fabric's softness. Tumble dry on low heat; iron at up to 150 °C.

Things to Avoid

Do not overload the drum: the fibers need space to rinse properly. Limit the use of heavily scented detergents and fabric softeners, which coat the fabrics and reduce their breathability. No chlorine: it causes whites to yellow and weakens the fibers. Do not dry-clean our cotton, linen, or hemp pillowcases.

Proper care is simple: the right temperature, gentle drying, and basic products. Your pillowcases retain their soft feel, and your bed stays fresh and inviting, night after night. The Kipli collection—made from organic cotton, washed cotton, washed linen, hemp, and cotton sateen, and available in children’s and bolster sizes—is designed to last and become softer over time. Enjoy the comfort of natural materials.
