OTTO bed frame and headboard

"We bought this to replace an IKEA bed frame with a metal structure and slatted base. We chose Kipli because it’s made in France and the brand is committed to sustainable products. After one or two months, we’re satisfied. One small (minor) downside is the quality of the assembly instructions—the Swedes are still THE gold standard in that regard—but that’s a very minor issue. The real concern is with the slatted bed frame. We traded in a frame made of thin, flexible slats—stacked two by two and in very large numbers, forming a structure with about forty slats—for a simple set of about fifteen thick, rigid fir boards that are simply placed on the bed frame’s side rails and connected to each other by cotton webbing. Clearly lower quality. Since we’ve kept our excellent mattress, for now, the comfort seems to remain the same, but we have our doubts about whether these slats will hold up over time without starting to creak and punctuating our movements in bed with the sound of squeaking wood. We’ll see. For now, it’s fine, and we’re well aware that for around €1,000, you can’t have it all: French manufacturing, more environmentally friendly products, and top-quality materials all at once. So for now, we’re satisfied."
