90% of mattresses sold contain polyurethane. These petrochemical-based materials contain substances that can emit VOCs (volatile organic compounds), which are major sources of indoor pollution and are toxic and hazardous to health. These materials are also highly polluting during manufacturing and at the end of their life cycle, as they are very rarely recycled or properly disposed of. Natural alternatives do exist. That’s what we at Kipli wanted to highlight. We offer a selection of mattresses with varying levels of comfort, made exclusively from natural and healthy materials.
All-natural mattresses
Mattresses containing natural latex
At Kipli, we offer two types of mattresses made with natural latex: the 100% Natural Latex Mattress and the Pocket Spring Mattress. Natural latex is a simple material whose natural properties make it possible to create a mattress that is both comfortable and healthy. Naturally resistant to dust mites, fungi, and fire, natural latex requires no chemical treatment. It therefore produces no VOCs that are allergenic or harmful to health. Kipli mattresses are also covered with a cover made entirely of natural materials: a fabric blend of organic cotton and Tencel (derived from wood pulp), as well as a wool filling.
Futons
Originating in India and popularized in Japan, the futon is a mattress known for being firm and easy to care for. At Kipli, we offer two models of all-natural futons: the cotton futon and the wool futon. Both futon models feature a high-quality French linen cover, ensuring their durability. Handcrafted locally in Aveyron, Kipli’s natural futons have not undergone any chemical treatments, making them healthy and sustainable products.
Durable mattresses
Natural Latex Mattresses
The Kipli natural latex mattress has an average lifespan of 12 to 15 years. During this time, the mattress does not lose density or change in composition. It is therefore a sustainable, long-term investment. At the end of its life, the mattress’s natural latex core is biodegradable. Considered green waste, it can then be composted.
Futons
The futon is known for its durability. After 10 years of use, it can be refilled to extend its lifespan. It then regains its plumpness and firmness and can be used for another 10 years.
The Choice for Comfort
At Kipli, we offer several types of comfort:
- For medium-firm comfort: The Kipli 100% Natural Latex mattress offers medium-firm comfort. It provides a soft, enveloping feel and a firm density that helps keep the spine in a natural position. Its two sides offer two different levels of comfort—one is softer and the other is firmer—so you can choose the comfort level that suits you best.
- For firm comfort: Pocket-coil mattresses feature a layer of natural latex that provides a comfortable feel. The high-quality steel coils make this a firm mattress that offers greater support. It is ideal for sleepers looking for firm comfort.
- For a very firm feel: Futons provide a very firm feel. You can adjust the firmness of your futon depending on the type of bed base it is placed on. Flexible slats provide a softer feel, while a rigid bed base provides a firmer feel.
