How to Clean a Mattress Easily and Effectively? - Kipli

How can you remove a mattress easily and effectively?

A mattress’s life isn’t always smooth sailing! This essential piece of bedding, vital to our well-being, promises us a comfortable and restful night’s sleep. But it also has to endure everyday mishaps. Breakfasts, TV dinners, bedwetting by our little ones, and restless nights all lead to stains and dirt. Caring for your mattress may seem like a tedious and costly task. But that’s not the case once you know the right tips and the right products. Wondering how to remove stains from a mattress? Follow our step-by-step guide!

White vinegar for removing small everyday stains

Fans of eco-friendly and smart cleaning are well aware of the properties of household vinegar for keeping the home clean and healthy. This economical, multi-purpose stain remover is a powerful disinfectant and deodorizer. How do you clean a stain off a mattress with vinegar? This easy-to-follow recipe works wonders:

  • Mix 500 ml of white vinegar with 200 ml of water and a few drops of dish soap;
  • Soak a clean washcloth in this mixture and wring it out thoroughly;
  • Scrub the mattress, making sure to clean around the stain as well to avoid leaving rings;
  • Rinse with clean water using a damp sponge;
  • Use a dry cloth to remove as much moisture as possible, then let it dry.

Household alcohol for disinfecting and treating coffee stains

Household alcohol is a good alternative to white vinegar. This mixture of rubbing alcohol, ethanol, methanol, and disinfectant is very versatile. It can be used for cleaning throughout the entire house. Its antibacterial properties make it an excellent choice for cleaning mattresses, and it’s particularly effective on coffee, ink, and fresh grass stains. Using it couldn’t be easier:

  • soak a clean cloth in rubbing alcohol;
  • Dab the solution onto the surface to be treated;
  • All that's left to do is scrub, and you're all set!

Dish soap for removing fresh stains

Dish soap works much better on fresh stains than on set-in stains. Did you just spill your breakfast on your bed? Don't wait to take action:

  • Prepare one liter of very hot water and add about ten drops of dish soap;
  • Take a clean sponge and dip it in the product;
  • Wring it out thoroughly before scrubbing so as not to soak the mattress;
  • Be sure to rinse with a cloth dampened with clean water to prevent water spots;
  • Use a hair dryer or let the mattress air dry for several hours.

Hydrogen peroxide for its bleaching and disinfecting properties

Effective against stubborn stains, hydrogen peroxide is one of the best ways to remove a bloodstain from a mattress thanks to its stain-removing, bleaching, and disinfecting properties. In this situation, be sure not to use hot water, as this will cause the stain to set even more firmly. Instead, follow these few simple tips:

  • Apply the product directly to the surface you want to clean;
  • Let it sit for a few minutes;
  • Repeat the process until the stain disappears, then rinse with clean water.
